Most garage door springs last 7 to 10 years, or roughly 10,000 cycles. Long before one snaps, the door usually tells you something is wrong.
Watch for a door that feels unusually heavy when you lift it by hand, opens crooked or jerks partway up, makes a loud bang from the garage, or shows a visible gap in the coil of the spring above the door. A door that closes faster than normal is another common sign of lost spring tension.
Never try to replace a torsion spring yourself. They hold enough stored energy to cause serious injury. Call us and we will replace both springs with quality parts and rebalance the door the same visit.
